Announcement: Darkwater Archery

Darkwater Archery Practice

Archery practice will be held on the 1st and 3rd Sundays of the month.

Starting on July 15th, the practice will be located at the Avian Reconditioning Center (ARC) located at :
● 323 West Lester Road, Apopka, FL
● Time 10 am – 2 pm.

This is an active raptor rehabilitation and rescue center and as such there are live raptors on the site. This requires that the SCA and all persons participating in the practice adhere to some very important rules regarding the property. The owners have kindly let us shoot here but there will be no second chances if anyone breaks these rules.

  1. DO NOT approach the “mews” – these are the buildings that house the raptors. This is for the birds safety and your own. The birds are prey animals and will attack movement and anyone that tries to “peek” through the wood. This can result in the loss of an eye or greater injury and the end of archery practice at this location.
     – NO EXCEPTIONS! - !!!!DO NOT APPROACH THE MEWS!!!!
  2. People cannot go past the Annex toward the lake. Stay away from the lake.
  3. Do not climb the barb wire fence onto the neighboring property. Not even for arrows. If an arrow flies over – consider it lost.
  4. Do not approach the Gift shop.
  5. Do not approach the house at the back of the property.
  6. There are no restrooms on site – please make use of the local convenience store nearby if needed.
  7. We will have an area marked for parking – please only park in this area.
  8. If the gate is chained – please re-chain it upon entering or exiting
  9. There are animals on the property (goats and horses) Be aware and Do NOT shoot!
  10. Please be advised there are Fire ant hills and Box turtle holes in the field.  Please be careful where you step to avoid spraining an ankle.

We look forward to having a great practice here with Friends and Laughter. Please be respectful of the rules so that we can enjoy it for a long time to come.
